Nexen tires

Nexen (name changed in 2000) entered the tire market very late, having been founded in 1942 under the name Heung-A Tire Company. With the opening of a special tire manufacturing facility in Yangsan, South Korea, in 1985, its business truly took off. After joining forces with OHTSU Tire & Rubber in Japan six years later, it started concentrating on expanding its selection of tires.

Nexen received a patent in 2005 for a method of creating rubber silicate nano-composite tires. After creating a well-liked SUV tire in 2006, Nexen established a facility in Qingdao, China, and sales there have since soared. The best-rated tire in the USA without a dedicated manufacturing facility is Nexen, according to Consumer Reports. Currently, it exports to more than 120 nations, which naturally includes the USA.

To accommodate all conceivable terrains and weather situations, Nexen tires are available in a wide variety of types. While some of their tires are excellent and others fall well short of expectations, Nexen generally produces reliable tires that are reasonably priced and always worth taking into account when you need new rubber.

Nexen Tires Review: All Season, All Terrain

Like many tire manufacturers, Nexen offers a variety of tire models. We've decided on one that can do it all in order to be fair to the complete (ha, get it?) brand. As far as we can tell, users generally give the Nexen Roadian AT Pro RA8 excellent marks. It is a suitable contender and is available in a variety of sizes.

Dry Performance

Customers remark that the Nexen Rodian tires work well on dry tarmac, so thankfully, we're off to a good start. Even when cornering quickly, the tires' superb traction is made possible by their grip.

The tires' excellent handling is also a result of its design, and users haven't reported any problems. There was no apparent body roll or drag with the car. Even at motorway speeds, the tires rolled effortlessly along the highways.

Some customers claim that the Nexen tires give their ancient cars new life, while others go on to call them the best dry-road tires they've ever used. You should be aware that the majority of customers who express these concerns in their reviews compare Nexen to other low-cost products. These can never compare to something more expensive.

However, what else can they do if dry road performance appears to be so outstanding early on with no negative feedback.

Wet Performance

No matter how heavy the rain is, customers claim that Nexen tires function excellently. Some consumers advise using these tires in especially for rainy locations because the traction is just as reliable as ever when traveling over wet roads.

They do point out that braking isn't as quick and simple on wet roads as it is on dry ones, but that largely applies to high-speed driving. The braking distances get longer after you get to roughly 43 miles per hour.

But any competent driver will be able to take braking distances into account. It requires getting to know your tires and how to drive safely on them. Keep in mind that you cannot simply put any old tires on your car and expect them to perform identically to your previous set. There is always a learning curve.

Fortunately, buyers believe the learning curve with these tires is well worth it. Some customers believe these tires perform better than other inexpensive tires they've used, even with the longer stopping distances. Some people claim they perform even better in the rain than some more expensive tires they've tried.

Winter Performance

Many consumers had high hopes for the tires' winter performance, and happily they delivered. There are some sipes on the sides, which improve traction on ice and snow.

Some buyers held off on leaving reviews of the tires until after using them in snow, and they weren't let down. One client had no problems using them in snow that was over 10 inches deep. The tires didn't lose traction or stick. They didn't lose any more traction than you could anticipate from a tire with good performance.

Unsurprisingly, most consumers thought the performance was superb. These tires have Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification, after all. Why does this matter? The tires pass all the requirements set forth by some of the most demanding testing conducted in North America, which indicates the model is suitable for heavy snow service.

We have no qualms about suggesting the tires to people who live in areas where it snows heavily and heavily during the winter. Keep in mind that we always suggest buying suitable, specialized winter tires first if there is a lot of snow throughout the year.

If you're crazy about Nexen, they also make various tire models that are focused on winter driving. Given how well the all-season tires perform in snow, we have no doubt that any dedicated winter tire from the manufacturer will complete the task in a secure and safe manner. Remember to check for those who have the 3PMSF accreditation.

Off-Road Performance

These tires will undoubtedly function effectively in off-road conditions if they perform well in snow. You'd be correct in your supposition, I suppose. Since they are all-terrain and a cheap purchase, the tires aren't the best for off-roading, but they still perform well.

The Nexen tires work well and offer more traction than most people need on dirt roads, rocks, gravel, and some light sand. They don't skid, skip, or jump; they just easily crunch over pebbles. Even while off-roading, the ride is still comparatively comfortable.

Although they don't provide specific brand names, some customers claim that these tires perform and feel on par with high-end brands when used off-road. Simply put, they claim that switching to Nexen tires after a lifetime of high-end products won't leave you feeling let down or as though you're missing out on anything.

We're going to state that these tires are a good option for off-roading and other uses because they don't seem to be a degradation from something more premium.

Road Noise and Comfort

Customers claim that there is hardly any road noise, with some claiming that Nexen tires are practically silent. This is remarkable for tires with a tread pattern designed to cut through snow and rugged terrain, like these.

The tires ride nicely, as long as your vehicle does, and there is no noise. You won't likely notice the majority of common tiny debris or even some larger potholes on the road when you pair these tires with a car that has a good suspension.

A small number of consumers, mostly those who have had these tires for a while, claim that the noise is louder than certain rival products and that the ride is a little harsher. Therefore, we might hypothesize that smoothness decreases and noise increases.

Given the low cost and non-premium brand of the tires, this is not an unrealistic expectation. The majority of clients don't appear to care about the performance decline, and many hardly even notice it.

So, if a reliable and comfortable performance is what you're wanting, Nexen, especially this tire model, is a great choice.

Tread Life

Customers and the tires' design both agree that the tread life of the Nexen tires is respectable. Particularly on the sides of these Roadian tires, there are some sipes that aid in dissipating heat accumulation. The tires will wear down more gradually as a result.

The tread life warranty we'll be discussing in a moment, in the opinion of customers, can easily be met or exceeded.

Unfortunately, customers who are on their second or subsequent pair of tires don't go into great detail about how long they lasted. People who mock the good life also tend to keep their disappointment to themselves.

All we can do is accept the tires' clever design, the fact that most customers are happy with them, and the warranty's statement that they should last for at least 50,000 miles. In our opinion, that's a sufficient amount of evidence to support a long tread life.

Conclusion

While not all of Nexen's tire offerings are remarkable, those that are, like the Aria AH7, compete favorably with their rivals and frequently provide lower prices. One may say that Nexen excels at this. It doesn't have US-based manufacturing facilities, making it the new kid on the block—and a foreign one at that—in a market dominated by well-known brands with domestic production facilities.

Considering how young Nexen is, it has accomplished a great deal in a short period of time, and we have no doubt that, despite a slight dip in ratings recently, it is the manufacturer that larger tire makers should be most concerned of.
